Refined shea butter is an extremely efficacious, moisturizing multi-purpose vitamin A butter suitable for all skin types. Widely recognized as a superb moisturizer with exceptional benefits for the skin, the unique properties of shea make it a perfect choice for skin and hair products. Refined shea butter has been processed to yield a white butter with low odor and a smooth, creamy texture. Use as an ingredient in DIY body butters & lotions.

Note: this is a rare example of a bulk product in a mason jar that we WILL ship (as opposed to being Seattle-only). Due to this product’s thick, creamy texture, it is best stored in a jar rather than an aluminum bottle.

Instructions

Shea butter can be used on it’s own but it is generally used as a DIY ingredient. Shea butter is best when incorporated into a moisturizer with other ingredients so it’s easier to spread. Suggested use levels for balms: 5%-100%, lotions & creams: 3%-5%, hair conditioners: 2%-5%, and bar soaps: 3%-6%We recommend storing your shea butter in a glass jar with a sealed lid.

If you’re local, return clean, dry mason jars + lids locally to our Seattle storefront with our jar return program. You can either receive a refund when you bring your receipt, or donate your jar deposit fee to a local nonprofit! We’ll sanitize and reuse these jars!

If you’re not local to Seattle, we encourage you to reuse the jar for other purposes! You can check out our collection of mason jar accessories to turn transform your jar to be used as a spice jar, drinking cup, you name it! Otherwise, the lid and glass base are recyclable.

Bulk online

This item is a part of our Bulk Online selection. Items packaged in mason jars include a $2 jar deposit which is refundable when you return clean, dry jars back to our Seattle storefront, where we will sanitize and reuse them.

Bulk options packaged in mason jars are currently only available for local delivery and store pickup in Seattle – they cannot be shipped unless stated otherwise. Please choose bulk products packaged in compostable bags or aluminum bottles for shipping anywhere in the US.

Local delivery costs $7.99 and store pickup is free. Our local delivery hours are between 11am and 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays, and our store pickup hours are 11am-2pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. 

Due to COVID-19, we are currently not allowing the use of personal containers in our bulk section.
